SCOTTISH HIGHLAND HEAVY ATHLETICS

The Highland Games Heavy Athletics competition field is located in the center of the festival field.

SCOTTISH AND IRISH DANCE

The Sherman Celtic Festival Scottish Dance Competition will be held on Saturday 3-21-20 in the Dance Tent. Dance competition will begin at 9 AM.

Exhibition dances on Sunday.

 CELTIC BREED DOG PARADE & animal events

Celtic Breed Dog Parade check in: Saturday 3-21-20 from 10:00 am to 10:30 am - Pup Tent

PARADE OF CLANS and OPENING CEREMONY

Parade begins in the Scottish Clan Village (east side of festival grounds) at 1:00 PM on Saturday and will feature a parade of all Scottish Clans and other cultural groups in attendance led by a massed band of pipes and drums.

Children are welcome to visit the dogs, sheep throughout the day or catch them as they make their rounds through the festival grounds!

Celtic kids area

Celtic Kids Area will be open from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and 11 AM to 4 PM on Sunday.

Join the fun at our bounce houses, Foam Swords, Tug of War, Javelin Throw, Hair Braiding, Nessie Ring Toss, and more. Visit the Scottish Village and complete your Passport to the Clans for special prizes. Bagpipe demonstrations, Unicorn pictures.

Kid's Highland Games Competition Sunday 1 PM to 3 PM. Open to children ages 5 to 11 and 12 to 16.

Shortbread contest

FREE TO ENTER - DEADLINE to enter is midnight on Monday, March 14th.

Adult and Child categories
Contest takes place on Saturday, March 21st at the Festival Headquarters tent.
All entries due by 10:00 AM
Judging begins at 11:00 AM
Awards presented at 12:30 PM

PIPE and DRUM COMPETITION

The 3rd annual Douglass Cup Pipe and Drum Competition will commence at 9:00 AM on Saturday 3-21-20 with solo piping competitions through 12 PM. A Scottish Drumming workshop by world class pipe band drummer and instructor Ed Best will be held in the piping area tent from 9 AM to 12 PM on Saturday. The cost to attend the workshop is $10 and pre-registration is required. Visit the registration page of our site for more info and to register.

Following the opening ceremony and Parade of Clans at 1 PM, the Douglass Cup Pipe Band competitions will commence at 2 PM on Saturday in the competition circle located near the center of the festival grounds (west side).

On Sunday 3-22-20 the Douglass Cup Bagpipe Quartet competitions will begin at 10:30 in the competition circle followed by the  inaugural First Reponders Pipe Band competition at 
2:30 PM in the competition circle.  Douglass Cup awards presented at 3 PM.

Gaelic Language Workshop

The Sherman Celtic Festival will offer several Gaelic Language workshops on Saturday 3-23-19 and Sunday 3-24-19. The workshops will be led by Gaelic Language instructor David Gressett. The workshops will be held in the Workshop tent located in the Cultural Area in the northeast corner of the festival grounds.

Celtic Church

Sunday at 1:30, the Sherman Celtic Festival will be offering a Celtic Church service co-directed by Reverend Wesley Evans of Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church. Join us for worship with a Celtic flair. More info coming soon.

Proceeds from the Sherman Celtic Festival and Highland Games benefit the Texoma Society of CELTS (Cultural Enrichment and Lasting Traditions) a non-profit organization, the Sherman Police Association, and the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
