2024 Sherman Celtic Festival Highland Dance Competition

AWARDS: 

• Cash Awards will be awarded to all Premier Age Groups based on a ratio of dancers to prizes. - Younger Age Groups: 1st: $35, 2nd: $30, 3rd: $25, 4th: $20, 5th: $15, 6th: $10 - Older Age Group: 1st: $40, 2nd: $35, 3rd: $30 4th: $25, 5th: $20, 6th: $15  
• Medals and ribbons will be awarded in all Pre-Premier age groups based on a ratio of dancers to prizes.  All dances (except Trophy Fling) will count towards the aggregate trophy awards in Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, and Premier. 
• On Saturday, there will be awards for the Most Promising Beginner, Novice, and Intermediate. There will be a dance off for Premier Dancer of the Day. Every dancer who wins a first place will be eligible to compete. The judge will decide which dance is to be danced. The prize will be a basket hilt sword. 
• On Sunday, for the Trophy Flings, Irish Jig Challenge and Hornpipe Challenge trophies will be awarded to the first place dancers. Other places will be awarded based on a ratio of dancers to prizes. 
• On Sunday, Beginner and Novice dancers will start with the Trophy Fling in Kilt. Intermediate dancers will start with Jig and Premier dancers will start with Hornpipe.

 Dancing Rules 

1. This competition is governed by RSOBHD and ScotDance USA rules. 

2. All dancers must be registered with ScotDance USA, or another RSOBHD approved registration body in order to dance. Registration Number must be on Entry Form. 

3. Registration is contingent on your 2024 RSOBHD dancer registration number. If entering with a 2023 Registration number please inform the committee of your new number before March 12, 2024 by contacting: Vicki Cana at the following email: vicki@bluebonnetshighlanddance.com 

4. Dancer registration card MUST be produced on the day of the event in order to compete. 

5. Age groups will be finalized after entries are received. 

6. Dancer age will be determined as of Saturday March 23, 2024. 

7. Pre-Premier dancers will have the ability to earn one stamp on their registration card over the two-day event. 

8. Organizer reserves the right to split or combine classes the day of the competition. 

9. Dancers who are last to enter will be first to dance, and when applicable the dancer will fill in for the ½ or full Tulloch. 

10. The organizer reserves the right to make changes to any information given in the entry form if necessary. 

11. Communication by a dancer or parent of a dancer with the judge or piper is not allowed and is grounds for disqualification. 

12. Pre-Premier category changes must be made by March 12, 2024. To make a Pre-Premier category change please contact Vicki Cana at vicki@bluebonnetshighlanddance.com 

13. Dancers not on hand when their class is called will forfeit entry on that event. 

14. All winners must be in competition dress to accept awards. 

15. All dance competitors and teachers are expected to comply with the RSOBHD & SDUSA Code of Ethics. 

16. Entry fee includes dancer admission to the Festival. 

17. Entries must be SUBMITTED online by March 12, 2024. Late entries will be accepted with a $15.00 LATE FEE after March 12, 2024. 

18. All Entry fees and other related payments are non-refundable.

Waiver: 

In consideration of acceptance of this entry, I hereby for myself, my heirs, my executors, and administrators, waive and release the City of Sherman, Texoma Society of CELTS, and their agents, or representatives, successors, and agencies for any and all damages suffered by me through the above-mentioned events and activities. I will abide by the rules and procedures for this competition. I also permit the City of Sherman and Texoma Society of CELTS or its sponsors to use my name or photograph of me participating in the above-mentioned events and activities for future promotional or publicity purposes, without obligation or liability to me.

Please complete sponsorship information on entry form if you would like to sponsor a trophy, set of medals, or any other amount to use towards judge and piper expenses. All sponsorships and donations will be acknowledged in the dancer program.
